
Our first volunteers were the ranch owner and Jim Strand who was the herd manager for the ranch of some 600 head of buffalo. The landowner graciously allows guided tours and Jim proudly shows off the herd and a pet buffalo he raised from a calf.
Join our Buffalo Grande Foundation volunteers! We have a variety of volunteer opportunities including manning information booths (both locally and at conferences, helping to narrate the buffalo and Native American history in our region at our tour sites or something as simple as packing sack lunch when there are tours from outside of the area.
During the North Dakota Native Tourism Alliance tour in 2024, Les Thomas of the Chippewas met Mike Faith from Standing Rock.
This was a catered lunch at Shadehill Lake during the Bismarck State College Symposium in 2022, from whence the concept of Buffalo Grande Foundation sprang forth.
